| Airlie Beach is the gateway to the 74 magical Whitsunday Islands. The town is only small and will take you all of 10 minutes at snails pace to get from one end to the other. Within this strip there are many bars, clothing stores, souvenir shops, outdoor eateries, clubs and the famous Airlie Lagoon. This is where most of the travellers hangout if not on the water checking out the islands. The town is so small you could be here for 1 week and feel like a local. Airlie Beach town is very transient and that is partly why people let their hair down so much. "The Airle Beach Bubble" - once you are in, you will have trouble getting out! Besides the party town reputation, there are many more things to see and do around the Whitsunday Region. It's funny...l regularly get asked by guests at Bush Village what is there to do on the mainland. Unfortunatly they mostly mean spending a little bit of money. Horse riding, Jet skiing , Para sailing, Proserpine Sugar Mill Tours, and Proserpine Crocodile Tours...are just a few options (many of these tours l will explain in more detail in the Adventures section of this site). Something that we do often on our days off is getting out of town. Fun Rentals is an option you could do and if you hook up with other friends or travellers it really doesn't cost much. There are many very nice places around the Whitsunday region. Ceder Creek Falls is close and great for a picnic. It is only 25 minutes away. Further down the road in the Conway Range is Conway Beach. This is a great beach that goes out for ever when the tide is out. Kite surfers and land sailers often use Conway Beach. Heading North of the Whitsundays is Dingo Beach or Hideaway Bay. Both of these places are very scenic and Bush like. Giving you the true Australian feel. The Beaches are very nice and the pubs are down to earth and friendly. |
