GETTING TO THE WHITSUNDAYS The Whitsundays is located in North Queensland approximately 1100km north of Brisbane and 700km south of Cairns. Getting to Airlie Beach, the gateway to the Whitsundays is easy with a variety of Air, Rail and Road options available. The Whitsundays by Air: The Whitsundays is serviced by two domestic airports - the Whitsunday Coast Airport on the mainland at Proserpine, and the Great Barrier Reef Airport located on Hamilton Island. Proserpine is situated approximately 40kms inland from Airlie Beach. Our preferred pick up service is with Whitsundays 2 Everywhere who provide a superior transfers to our customers and can be pre-booked prior to your arrival simply by phoning us on(07) 49466177 or 1800 809 256 when you arrange your accomodation with Bush Village we can pre-book your transfer at no additional costs. They charge $15.00 per person and will drop you off at our reception. Otherwise the whitsunday bus company will drop you at the front road to walk in.   From Hamilton Island airport the ferry transfers are available to take you across to the mainland . The cost for this transfer is $49.00 each way, so think about that when booking flights either Whitsunday Coast or Hammo, and way up the costs.
International access to the Whitsundays is available via connecting flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns. Airlines servicing the region are Qantas/Jetstar and Virgin Blue.

The Whitsundays by Rail: Queensland Rail: 'Sunlander' and 'Queenslander'. Services to Proserpine depart Brisbane and Cairns several times weekly. The new Tilt Train services Proserpine Station with two return services weekly between Brisbane and Cairns. The Tilt Train departs Brisbane Monday and Friday afternoons and Cairns Sunday and Wednesday mornings. Daylight running of the Tilt Train allows passengers to enjoy the picturesque landscapes in a convenient and comfortable environment. |
