| Information about Airlie Beach Markets on Saturday Mornings |
| The Airlie Beach local markets are held every Saturday morning situated on the beach front right across from where the Bush Village Boutique Backpackers bus stops. This is also where the Greyhound , Premier and Mc Caferties coaches pull in. At the top end of the beach where the airlie beach markets are held is the Whitsunday Sailing club. The Sailing club offers great cheap meals and drinks something alot of travelers are not aware of. It is well worth a look. Whilst l am on the converastion about the Airlie Beach Sailing club, for those interested in sailing the club offers sunset sailing races every wednesday. You do not have to own a boat or know anybody. Just turn up before 3pm and there are many locals happy to take people out to help sail and enjoy a fun race followed by stunning sunsets and drinks. Ok back to the Airlie Beach markets, there are actually two markets, one on Saturday mornings and another Sunday evenings. The Saturday morning markets are were you will find all sorts of interesting stalls ranging from truely amazing massages ( Karen is about mid 70 years of age Chinese and has more qualifications than you could poke a stick at) to, Whitsunday Gold local coffee on offer, Hair braiding, air brush tatoos for the kids, paintings camel rides on the Beach, live local musicians the list goes on. There is literally something for everybodys interests. The range of local produce is always impressive. We at Bush Village Boutique Backpackers reliously get our daily Breakfast fruit from the markets on saturdays. Knowing that most of the produce you buy from the supermarkets actually comes from our local area such as Bowen or Ayr to name a few and knowing the farmers send the fruit and veg all the way to the citys and then return in back to put on the mainstream supermarket shelves in the area seems crazy. The produce is much fresher and everyone is concious of organic growing. The Bush Village Bus does many trips to the airlie beach markets for our guests. The first one at starts at 6am for the early bird other wise 8.50am, 10am or 11 am. The 12.30 bus is another option but the markets start to wind down by 1pm. Happy shopping. |
