The Airlie Beach Lagoon is a magnificent place to relax. Not only for the backpackers but familys alike. You could probably call the Airlie Beach lagoon in some way Church.  At some point every one goes there. The grass areas  all around the lagoon are stunning, most of the year the water is really refreshing when summer comes along everyone lives in the pool.

There are two sections to the Airlie Beach lagoon, one for everyone and another which is set up for tiny kids and familys. The whole place is very safe with life guards always patroling the waters. At the far end where the baby lagoon pool is there is a great play ground for the kids. I often ride my mountain bike from Bush Village along the board walk to the lagoon with my son Jett in the back seat. He loves the range of swings,slides, and fun things to stimlate his mind.  There are also many BBQ's at the lagoon which are free to use.

The Whitsunday Shire Council grounds men do an excellent job maintaining not only the lagoon but the whole shire. Im sure you will agree when entering our shire.   There are rules though around the Airlie Beach Lagoon.  There is no alcohol or smoking to be consumed on the grounds.  This for some maybe a bother but trust me after 14 years of living in this town l know there are well and truly enough bars to forefull your drinking needs and Airlie beach is fast becoming a family destination with kids so these rules around the lagoon are a very good thing. Instead you can get yourself a frizbee, tenis ball what ever and enjoy a bit of fun water sports.Talking about water sports there is little business right beside the lagoon. The owner of the operations name is Matt.  He would have to have the best office in the town. Some would disagree.( others that work around town ) From the beach they rent out Jet ski's , Catamarans, paddle boards and ofcourse wake boarding, sking, tubing, hot dog rides etc.  Tell him Chris from Bush Village Boutique backpackers sent you and hit him up for a crazy deal. For most people if they are not out on boats seeing the whitsunday islands they are in the recovery mode by the time the sun shines and the lagoon is the perfect solution.

Every now and then the Whitsunday shire will put on movie nights within the Lagoon grounds, It is well worth checking out. Under the stars, mates in company, great atmosphere all round you really cant go wrong. For the book worms the Lagoon has you covered.  There is a little book shop that exchanges books right at the main entrance to the grounds. Lea's Book Store its called and if you feeling peckish you cant go past Marino's Deli. 30 second walk from the lagoon.  Marino does honestly the best pasta's in Australa, His Antipasto spreads are second to none. If you are trying to impress, you cant go past getting a platter from Marino and head anywhere along the water frount. At night there are Security guards patrolling the area for the simple fact that the airlie beach bars and night clubs are only a stumble away.  I hope this info has given you an insite to one of Airlie Beaches jewels.
